Featured Artist: Tony Droege
Anthony Droege is one artist who explores the boundaries of his work, both through more representative still-life works and free-form performance pieces. His featured piece was created in front of a live audience, inspired by his co-performers, live musicians. You can note the weaving bars of music and dashing notes and melodies throughout the painting.
A long-time art professor at Indiana University South Bend, Droege's paintings often bring together colors or expressions that play on the senses: whether they be aural, visual, or textural. As Droege says, "when I'm most successful, the objects begin to create a sense of mystery."
Lilly Oncology on Canvas Collection
In addition to the items donated by local artists and artisans, we will also be displaying pieces from the Lilly Oncology on Canvas collection. This collection was developed by the Lilly Corporation in 2004 as a way to honor those who are impacted by cancer — as a patient, caregiver, friend or family member. To learn more about Lilly Oncology, please visit their Web site.
Silent and Live Auction
During the evening, we will have a silent auction of donated gifts from local businesses and individuals. We will also host a live auction of pieces created by local artists. These works are unique interpretations of life and beauty, as they are interpreted by each artist.
The artists who will be contributing pieces are as follows:
- Meg Auth - jewelry
- Janet Leazenby - large ceramic vessel
- Nick Donovan - framed etching
- Kathy Reddy - framed music tile
- Larry Piser - serving piece
- Deb Good - stained glass
- Sue Neuffer - pencil with watercolor
- Kitty Rose - mosaic
Thank you to these generous artists, individuals, and businesses for their contributions.
