Performers & Presenters
Our generous and talented performers have played together for 15 years and have developed a vibrant stage presence that balances their individual styles.
Danny Lerman
Danny Lerman, a South Bend native, plays both alto and soprano sax. He studied with Charles Atkins, who also taught Motown icon Junior Walker. His CD "Danny's Island" reached the Top 20 on the contemporary jazz charts of "Radio & Records," and the single, "Take My Breath Away," reached the No. 1 position on the playlist of WGCI, Chicago's No. 1 urban music station. Lerman has shared concert bills with Herbie Hancock, Sergio Mendes, Richard Elliot, David Benoit, Eric Marienthal and the Ghetto Boys.
His most recent CD, "Meow Baby," melds the new sounds and global musicians he's met during his world tours into a seamless, rhythmic whole. While the tracks swing toward contemporary jazz and urban and adult pop, there are also traces of world music and Middle Eastern sounds, as well as Latin and South African rhythms. Darryl Buchanan
Darryl Buchanan, also a native of South Bend, has travelled extensively during his musical career. Primarily associated with R&B and Motown, Buchanan is characterized by his exuberance and charisma, combined with a solid foundation in the traditions of his art. He has travelled with the Motown Review, Junior Walker, and others. His fondest memory is of performing at the 1992 Inaugural Ball for President Bill Clinton. He has also been on NBC's "Saturday Night Live" and "Good Morning America."
In 2009, Buchanan was awarded a certificate of recognition by Mayor Stephen J. Luecke of the City of South Bend. A year later, Buchanan released his ninth CD, titled "DJ's Work This Playlist," performed in conjunction with fellow musician Don Carlos. To learn more about his work, you can visit his website.
